Summary:
This motion will authorize Brookings County to abate the 2023 Drainage Fees in the amount of $38.68 for Parcel Number 40620-00200-007-00 which is owned by South Dakota State University Foundation. This assessment was in error as the drainage fees had also been direct billed through the City.
Background:
The City of Brookings utilizes Brookings County real property data to assess annual Drainage Fees. However, SDSU Foundation is directly billed, by the City, for parcels that they own and drainage fees are not assessed to the tax bill.
If approved, this action will abate the following portion of the Drainage Fee:
2023 drainage fee charged: $38.68
Amount to be abated: $38.68
Fiscal Impact:
The Drainage Fee revenue will be reduced by $38.68.
