Summary:
The proposed Resolution will allow staff to apply for grant funding to defray the costs of hosting a 2023 Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Drop-off event. The City hosted an HHW event in 2021 and 2022. Over 470 residential households participated in the events and approximately 30 cubic yard boxes of paint, 825 fluorescent bulbs, hundreds of aerosol products, and miscellaneous hazardous products were collected.
The HHW event provides City residents the opportunity to appropriately dispose of common household chemicals and products, such as paint, fluorescent bulbs, batteries, automotive fluids, and aerosols. All HHW collected at the event will be packaged and shipped to facilities registered to handle hazardous waste.
Staff intends to schedule the 2023 HHW event in fall of 2023.
