Summary:
Approval of the recommended Resolution will authorize the City to contract with Sanitation Products Inc. of Sioux Falls, SD for the purchase of two (2) automated collection trucks at the pricing schedule set through a competitively solicited cooperative bid process by Sourcewell, contracts #091219-LEG and #060920-NAF. The combined purchase price is $584,714. Sufficient appropriations, in the amount of $602,000, are available in the 2023 amended budget under the Solid Waste Collection / Recycle Fund #612.
The replacement of collection truck #39, purchased in 2012, and collection truck #79, purchased in 2013, is essential as both trucks have exceeded their useful life of seven (7) years and continue to require costly repairs. The replacement of collection truck #39 was presented to the Council and approved in November of 2021, but due to supply chain issues, the vendor cancelled the order. The lead-time for these vehicles is expected to be between nine (9) and twelve (12) months.
