Title
Action on Resolution 21-013, a Resolution to approve the purchase of a Zamboni Ice Resurfacer from Sourcewell Contract #030117-FZC through the Frank J. Zamboni Company.
Body
Summary:
This Resolution will award the purchase of a Zamboni Ice Resurfacer from the Frank J. Zamboni Co. in the amount of $105,692.15. The City will sell the existing 2002 Olympia Ice resurfacer through the surplus property auction. The expected value is estimated at $20,000 - $25,000. That sales amount will offset the total purchase price and will bring the overall price below the budgeted amount of $100,000. This equipment is critical for proper ice maintenance for all ice activities at the Larson Ice Center and is used after each group.
Background:
Ice resurfacing equipment is vital to the proper maintenance of the ice surfaces at the Larson Ice Center. The resurfacing equipment is used several times a day to prepare the ice surface between user groups. Currently the rink has 2 different types of resurfacing equipment. Replacement of the 2002 Olympia ice resurfacer with a Zamboni model will allow staff to be trained on a single operating system. Having equipment of the same manufacturer will reduce training time, allow for a single parts inventory, and create more consistency during ice maintenance activities.
