Summary:
The City of Brookings is seeking approval of an amendment to the Subdivision Regulations pertaining to public street acceptance and drainage requirements.
Background:
The proposed amendments clean up incorrect cross-referencing ordinances, moves existing language to more appropriate sections of the Subdivision Ordinance, and provides clarity on the process pertaining to public street acceptance and drainage easement requirements.
The Subdivision Ordinance does not contain a clear process on what needs to occur in order for a developer to transfer ownership of a public street and association improvements. The amendment adds language identifying the process which requires the developer’s engineer to certify the improvements were completed according to the approved plans and specifications. The amendment also provides clarification on drainage easements and restrictions of objects placed within a drainage easement.
