Summary:
The City of Brookings has been awarded a federal “Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage” (BUILD) Grant to construct 20th Street South between 22nd Avenue South and 34th Avenue South along with a new interchange at Interstate 29 & 20th Street South.
The City requested the State to function as the administrator for the Project along with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). The City Council authorized the City Manager to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the SDDOT and the City at the January 28th City Council meeting. The MOU outlines the responsibilities of the State and the City and designated the City Manager as the City’s representative for the project. There will be documents relating to this project that will need to be authorized with a very short approval time to keep the project on schedule. The documents include the work order for engineering services, easements, and other project related documents. The SDDOT will have administration authority for the project and this resolution will authorize the City Manager to sign project related documents on behalf of the City.
