Body
Summary:
Update:
The Brookings Historic Preservation Commission tabled this item on February 11, 2020 as more information was requested on the window alternatives. The applicant has provided a revised application/case report containing additional information. The revised application has been attached.
The applicant is seeking approval of an 11.1 application/case report for improvements to a contributing structure in the Downtown Commercial Historic District. The building was originally the First National Bank and has most recently been the place of business for Ram Pub and O’Hare’s.
Background:
The applicant is proposing a number of improvements as shown in the Case Report including:
• Removal of non-historic green window boarding and window replacement
• Removal of non-historic exterior paint
• Cleaning of all cast stone trim
• Construction of a ramp on the northwest side of the building for accessibility purposes
The State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) has reviewed the 11.1 Application/Case Report and is requesting Brookings Historic Preservation Commission review for the project. The City Code requires any improvements in the right-of-way, such as the proposed ramp, to be reviewed and approved by the City Council.
