Summary and Recommended Action:
The Dacotah Bank Center Exploratory Committee recommends transitioning the Dacotah Bank Center (DBC) into a hybrid live event and recreational facility. The recommendation maintains the DBC as an important community gathering and event venue while expanding year-round recreational opportunities and focusing event programming on activities that provide community benefit and/or demonstrate greater financial sustainability.
The Committee further recommends transitioning management of the facility from Oak View Group (OVG) to the City of Brookings, transitioning current facility employees to City employment, and utilizing available 3B revenue to support facility operations. Existing events scheduled for 2027 would generally continue while staff strategically reduces concerts and other events that consistently generate financial losses or do not align with the facility’s future direction.
