Summary:
The City held a bid letting on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 for the Bob Shelden Athletic Field Complex Renovation Project. The bid format included a base bid with several alternates that are shown on the attached bid tabulation. The base bids received were:
• Clark Drew Construction, Inc. Brookings, SD: $2,516,000.00
• Schwartzle Construction, Tea, SD.: $2,749,000.00
The base bids include field lighting with LED fixtures, replacement of the grandstand, fencing, concrete parking lot and grading of the playing field. Staff is recommending selecting Alternate 3 for $91,500 (Permeable pavers and associated drainage) and Alternate 5A* for $223,000 (synthetic infield turf) for a total project cost of $2,830,500.
Alternate 3 for $91,500 (Permeable pavers and associated drainage) would be funded utilizing Storm Water Drainage funds.
The inclusion of Alternate 5A would be contingent upon acceptance of Friends of Baseball Letter of Commitment.
This resolution will award the project to Clark Drew Construction, Inc. for the total bid amount of $2,831,500.00.
