Introduction of new and/or promoted City of Brookings employees.

The following City of Brookings employee will be introduced to the City Council and public:
• Kristin Zimmerman, Parks, Recreation & Forestry Director
o Kristin is originally from Iowa and obtained a degree in Recreation, Park, and Tourism Administration from Western Illinois University with minors in Marketing and Advertising. Kristin served as the past chair of the National Recreation and Parks Association Aquatics Board. At 15 years old she began her Park and Recreation career as a lifeguard and rock climbing instructor. She continued to work in the field, holding various positions. Most recently, Kristin was Mohave County, Arizona's Parks and Recreation Administrator. Kristin has a strong background in recreation management, grant writing, project management, and natural resource management. Kristin’s family is excited to join the Brookings community and call Brookings home.
• Samantha Beckman, Assistant to the City Manager
o Samantha Beckman is originally from the Sioux Falls area and recently graduated from Texas A&M University, where she obtained a Master of Public Service & Administration degree. She is a graduate of SDSU where she studied political science and history. Samantha has spent the last year as a Long-Range Planning Intern with the City of College Station, TX, assisting with two major planning efforts. She also interned with Risk Management in College Station and Parks & Recreation in Sioux Falls. As the Assistant to the City Manager, Samantha will work on downtown and core neighborhood revitalization opportunities.
